DP0GVN via QO-100 for local school near Hanau

My son Timothy is in the 4’th grade of the local Büchertalschule near Hanau Mittelbuchen.

I thought it might be a fun idea to offer them a contact to speaking to Alex as DP0GVN in the antartica.

His class teacher Nathalie Krieger and music teacher Christian Kraus DL4FO liked the idea and the preparation begun.

My local club DARC F75 Schöneck and myself started to create a portable QO-100 set for the school project, and also for future use within the club. Michael DM1TT, Organized the purchase of the wanted parts and Frank DL4DW, Dietmar DL3FH and myself assambled and tested everything. The station worked perfect on the first attempt!

March 8th was the data for the sced, but I held a presentation to the kids two day before explaining the project and some knowledge about hamradio, distances in the univers and how communication via satelites work.

The kids learned a lot about the most southern region of our planet and worked on 9 questions they wanted to ask Alex over the radio.

Friday was here and we asembled the station in front of the class room.

Short test and showtime at 8:00 utc! You could hear a pin drop in the classroom while the kids were listening to the answers they got from Alex.

The school contact went smooth and the kids really had fun!

Thanks Alex DL2ALY @ DP0GVN and all the support from F75 team!

Ther german newspaper article in Hanauer Anzeiger from March 14th.

It was one of the best hamradio days in my live!
