CQ WW CW 2025
Yes, it is this time of the year again! I was planed to work from the famous DX-Hotel @ DM9EE in Holzminden for anothe Single OP Assisted Low Power effort. Just days befor the contest Carsten reportet that there was an issue with the main antenna. I was trying to find another station where I can operate from, but it was rather difficoult, and so I ended up giving it a shot from DM9EE and hope for the best with the small antenna glitch.
I arrived around noon on Friday and we started to set everything up. Carsten fixed the 80m foursquare and I did the testing and N1MM setup inside. By 19:00 local time everything was set up and time for a delicous christmas dinner and sleep.
Very light pre contest meal made me wonder if I would wake up on time or not!
Since 2013 I am doing this single OP low power thing, I did not want to miss out this year. 2018-2023 it was DX Hotel and before from home. 2024 I operated from Difona in Heusenstamm:
My way of doing this is always the same. Chase all mults in the band map until nothing is left to work, and after that add some 3 point QSOs to the log.
After 24 hours I had 500 QSOs in the log and 438 CTYs.
I also followed the SOAB battle between N6MJ/EF8R, KL9A/CQ9A and E77DX/5J1DX on onlinescore and tried to work them on all bands.
At the end I was able to pile up exactly 1000 QSOs and a lot of DXCC’s. Almost a 5Band-DXCC in 48 hours! (Only 80m was not su effective). With the small antenna glitch I missed a few mults form asia on 40m and I could also not work a ton of JA/BY stations as I usually would for 3 ponts, but over all the DXCC count was fine.
600-610 would have been possible, but I am very happy with the result. Maybe it is good for a TOP 10 in germany, but it was fun anyway.
The SOAB World winner iiiiiiisssssssss: N6MJ @ EF8R
The whole TOP 10 of single operators was a showcase of pure performance!
Here are some station pictures:
Thank you Carsten DM9EE for all the support and the great station that I was allowed to use again!
Thanks again and cu the next time!
