CQ WW CW 2024

It is this time of the year again:

September CQWW RTTY – Madeira

October CQWW SSB – Madeira

November CQWW CW – Heustenstamm!

After two potentiasl world number one scores (claimed), every year I have to do penance and work a full contest in low power and CW! I started this idea in 2013 with 200 QSOs ona G5RV antenna and never missed one since then. This year I had the great opportunity and work from Difona Headquaters in Heusenstamm. https://difona.de/

I arrived Friday around 10 o’clock and started the setup of the station:

ICOM IC-7851 TRX, 3 Elemen Momo Beam for 10/15/20m on the building @ 20m and a hex beam at 17m. Kelemen Dipole 40/80m @ 8m. Don’t ask about 160m. 🙁

Setup was done very quickly and we had plenty of time to realax and share a few storys with Kay DL9IM who helped me with the setup.

The contest started as usual on the lowbands and as always I tried to work mults only. This is slow, but creates some nice score at the end of the game.

Even with a trap dipole and 100w mutlt were piling – thanks to the good ears on the other sides! I tried to hang in there with some breaks and sleep inbetween. Pasta, Pizza and indian for contest food from the nearby takeaway and kept me going. My goal was to reach at least 1000 QSOs or Plan-B 1.000.000 points. It has worked out!

Thanks to all the great CW operators out there who catched my call in the pilups and to the Difona Team for the hospitality and the honor to work from their facilities!

Monday morning – on my way home by taxi to unpack and catch some sleep!

Yes it looks tiered!!

Thanks again and cu the next time!
