CQ WPX RTTY 2026 @ LX7I
Here we go again, 2026 starts with the CQ WPX RTTY Contest for me, operating LX7I again.
Before I signed up with Philippe for the contest, it was already clear that I could not do the full 30 hours, as I had some family asignments with the kids! Therefore I opted for the classic category and hoped I can make the full 24h.
I am QSL Manager from DARC F75, so I was on the monthy club meeting on friday and could not sleep before 21:00/22:00. So only about 3 hours sleep after a long week to start the contest.
The first 5 hours were great but when rates droppend I took a short nap for about one hour or so. Hours 7, 8 and 9 were great, then second nap. Hours 14-19 were great again, but rates really dropped off very sharp when EU primetime TV time started. I knew that I will have some off times tomorrow I made the big mistake to accept some low rate hours till 19 in total. Day 2 I managed to get the missing 5 hours in. I should have cut off earlier on Saturday as I had some hours left on Sunday.
Overall it was fun to operate LX7I again.
A big thanks to Philippe LX2A who let me operate his superstation again and again. As promised I did not break anything.
Here is the remote setup:
Dual screen main PC with two screens. Left SmartSDR 4.1.5 and control window for output power at the PXGL.
Right screen N1MM with 2Tone and MMTY. No cluster as I was unassisted.
The MS Surface on the left is for switching antennas and contoling anything else in Luxemburg.
All the ICOM radios had a break.
Sunday morning fresh to work.
There rere some really funny callsigns out there and some confusing ones:
Some good rates:
At the end I was happy with the result, even if it was not the perfect outcome. Lets see what this might be good for. I am happy with maybe TOP5 in classic.
Update Feb. 20th RAW Scores:
I am happy with number two or three World, and pretty confident about a clean log.
No contest report without the map – right?
Thanks to all the callers and I am sorry for the ones I could not pick up.
Cheers!
See you in CQ WPX SSB 2026 and CQ WW SSB 2026 again from CQ3W!
73 and good dx
